Versatility or, a justification for poetry
Hybrid Publishers, 2013. 42 pp.
In a friendly antagonism between an a cappella double chorus (representing the community) and a baritone (representing the poet), Versatility establishes that modern poetry can be a pleasure to read and relevant to everyday life. The poetry is in the conversation between the poet and the choristers, who also sing commentaries on proceedings. The music is from the collected chorales of J.S. Bach, to which I have added my own words. The Australian composer, Peter Sculthorpe, has provided an insightful foreword.
The book is spiral-bound, so that it is choir-friendly and opens flat. All the music is included, in notation. As well, a compact disc recording of the first performance in September 2012 in the Great Hall, University House, Australian National University, is included at the back of the book. A limited edition and very good value.

Praise for Versatility
"Timoshenko's poetry and Bach's music make a compelling justification for the use and enjoyment of poetry in our daily lives. Versatility is a delight to read. A live performance with a cappella double chorus would bring even more delight." -- Peter Sculthorpe
